El Teixar, a Qualified Estate Wine, has been awarded the “Icon of Catalan Wine” award at the seventeenth edition of the Best Wine Awards of the Catalan Wine Guide. Joan Ignasi Domènech, director of the winery, collected the award and thanked the organization “for highlighting old vineyards and native varieties”. The event took place on October 14 at the Razzmatazz hall in Barcelona and is the most crowded and representative event of the wine sector in the region.
This award is a new distinction with which the people responsible for La Guia seek to recognize Catalan wines that have marked an era or a change of trend in winemaking in our country over the last two decades. For Vinyes Domènech it is a recognition of the objective of conserving and improving the natural heritage of the estate by promoting a winemaking project that expresses the landscape, the biodiversity of the environment, regenerative agriculture and the influence of botany on the wines.
El Teixar, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this 2024, is the first wine from the DO Montsant, the fourth from Catalonia and the first single-varietal Garnatxa Peluda that INCAVI grants the qualification of “Qualified Estate Wine”.
